This is a hard family. One, because it’s from a wife’s line, which means that with changing last names it’s often hard to track. But the entry point here, Elizabeth Martin, remarried at 28 and finding anything at all about her or her husbands is proving difficult.

Shows “Big Mama” Elizabeth Martin/McBlair’s second marriage – Burne, S.B. 26 Fauquier s/o Thomas W./C.A. to Elizabeth McBlair 28 Wid. Fauquier d/o John/Maria Martin 12 Jan 1882.
I know from other sources that her first husband, Charles Ridgely McBlair, died young. Their child Elizabeth was living with her (McBlair) grandparents when she was 10. This was in 1880. Big Mama remarried two years after that event. I don’t know why her daughter wasn’t with her in 1880. Verbal history seems to keep Elizabeth in the family’s good graces afterwards though. And there’s always the possibility that Charles didn’t die, that they were divorced.
